Welcome to Bar Charlie
Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a cool and comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beer and spirits brewed and distilled in the greater Pacific Northwest, as well as delicious food.
Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal. The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.
Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and assistance from Chris Navarra. Chris Navarra started with Prost and has gone on to open numerous bars and restaurants across the Northwest.
Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork. It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

Reviews & Other News
"If a seaplane were to careen off course and crash spectacularly into the retail space on Stone and 38th, its requisite parts scattering into decor, it would look much like Bar Charlie... Yet, sitting on a Tuesday night, a game on the TV, a dozen or so patrons scattered throughout—woman on her laptop flanked by a glass of wine at the bar, a quartet of coworkers in the corner booth, some writer guy taking notes on his phone—Bar Charlie felt very much a regular old neighborhood bar and not necessarily a themed bar. Underneath the comfortable chatter of a day coming to close, the bar’s novelties fade into background noise like the hum of a plane at cruising altitude."
"Opened last December on the now-bustling lower Stone Way corridor, Bar Charlie tucks into a space within the ground floor of the Bowman apartment building. The bar, from Christian Thomason (with mentoring from Prost’s Chris Navarra), is already gaining lift as an area favorite. I stopped by recently to see what was taking flight, and here are three impressions of the visit...
Overall, Bar Charlie lands smoothly as a picture-perfect neighborhood spot."
"Original cocktails crafted with local spirits are served up alongside small plates, sandwiches and charcuterie at this seaplane-themed Fremont watering hole. Drinks are served from a long bar crafted from vintage seaplane parts, while the bright dining room features art depicting the history of aviation on nearby Lake Union."
"Who'd have thought a seaplane-themed neighborhood bar would attract so much attention? Nevertheless, the charmingly specific theme and decor at Bar Charlie (3801 Stone Way N) are complemented by aeronautical cocktails, local drafts like the Bar Charlie Pale from Rooftop Brewing, and a food menu that's just offbeat enough with options like hatch chili mac and cheese or a version of poutine with twice-baked potatoes instead of fries."
